Last weekend we experimented with our first ever startupXLR8R — (a special thanks to our friends at Microsoft for providing an amazing space).
22 teams participated, showing up bright and early Saturday morning to start cranking away. About 30 hours later a collection of 10 angels/VCs gathered to hear the rapid fire pitches and, more importantly, to meet the participants.
One group of savvy coders, consisting of Zvi Band, Michael Mayernick, and Kunmi Ayanbule, decided to build something from scratch, resulting in the creation of heyAstro!
(Grotech Ventures’ @ocampob signs up for heyAstro!)
Check out the lineup for yourself, and let us know if you’d be interested in participating in the next one (tentatively set for June 4th-5th, 2011).

I have a couple small start-up ideas. Can people work by themselves on it?
Perphaps – however this is a competitive application process. Those likely to be accepted will have working code, or serious technology development skills for day-of.
Will there ever be opportunities to participate as viewers to watch the coding process, networking, and overall event?
Probably not. For networking, check out http://meetup.com/dc-tech-meetup
This was a great event. Met great teams and folks with cutting edge ideas. Many thanks to iStrategyLabs, Peter, and DJ for the opportunity.
